How the league came to be
Driveway Stocking was officially created on June 15, 2016, after a group of friends wanted to play some basketball, but were not allowed to join another local basketball league, Driveway Coss, due to overcrowding. So, Tony McIntire and Isaac Stolmeier decided to create their own league, based on Brian Stocking, a Quad Cities area hero and local sportscasting legend.
The first season of Stock league did not go over well, as no one in the league could legally drive. So, the league went on a lockout, from June 30, 2016, to February 14, 2017, when the Commissioner and Co-Commissioner decided to revive Stock. The revival of Stock received cheers and jeers, as Driveway Coss felt threatened by the rising of their competition.
Now, the two leagues have a mutual respect for each other, and have friendly competition from time to time. Stock League is on the rise, and shows little sign of slowing down.
